The fact that doctors consider this as more of a condition then a symptom makes it more serious. Dysphagia is a medical condition whereby the patient has difficulty in the ingestion of food straight from his mouth to the stomach. This occurs in some who do not even know they have this disorder. This is because it is painless contrary to odynophagia and the globus. The latter denotes the formation of a lump in the throat.swallowing disorders has therefore been taken serious and remedies coming out.

The physiology of swallowing predetermines a number of algorithmic steps that the body follows. First of all, the oral preparation stage, here food is in the mouth and contains water. It is manipulated before being ingested. Then secondly, the oral stage where the tongue propels the food in the mouth to start the gulping down.

The third stage is the pharyngeal one. Here is all goes down in pharynx. This organ is important for voice and the prevention of food from making its way to the trachea or wind pipe. Lastly, the esophageal stage comes right after the second one. In this stage, food passes the esophagus and goes all the way down to stomach in a process called peristalsis. These last processes involve involuntary reflexes that the brain automatically controls.

The way you could know whether you have this condition or note is important. There are a number of symptoms one can judge from. The known ones are a change in voice, drooling, and feeling of a lump in the throat, weight loss and malnutrition. It also could include coughs. This is as a result of food not passing the esophagus to the stomach.

If food passes to the wind pipe, then that is a recipe for disaster. This can cause aspiration pneumonia. This is dangerous as it can escalate to worsened medical cases. If food goes in wind pipe, normal people ought to cough, however, these do not. This is why patients have a wet voice whenever they speak during or after eating.

There are a number of causes of swallowing discomforts. They include the Zenker diverticulum, Esophagial diverticula, webs and rings in esophagus, esophageal cancer, esophageal atresia, achalasia, dyspaghia lusoria and gastro esophageal reflux. In many cases, the dysphagia causes the narrowing of the lumen. This inhibits passage and in later cases even water.

Doctors employ a pool of technology to easily denote and detect the problem. The natures of equipment heavily used include both the esophagoscopy and laryngoscopy. This are used to check for direct views in the body. A CT scan is also an option. The problem with it is that, it cannot denote the actual cause though.

The treatment for this disorder majorly lies on the level of seriousness and the effect it has on the patient. For the swallowing part, therapies on how to swallow and other exercises do help. Another option in such a case can be the dieting option. For esophageal related cases, then surgery to release the taut muscles and other prescribed medicine can help out
